The Society

The Society was founded in 1999 to meet the needs of smallholders throughout the northeast of England. Our membership now extends from Lincolnshire in the south to County Durham in the North.

If you keep sheep, pigs, hens or horses, grow vegetables or any other small farming activity then this could be the society for you. You dont have to be a land owner or a business as long as you have an interest in rural activities that you are willing to share with others.

Our aims are to bring together people of similar interests, to share information and advice and to make friends.

Training Courses

We try to provide training courses in a variety of rural activities usually with one of the local training establishments. We will try to meet your own particular training requirements or advise on available courses elsewhere.

About Us

The Newsletter.

We publish a quarterly newsletter where you can read about the Societys activities, forthcoming social events and other news of interest to the smallholder.

Members can submit articles about their own interests or read about the interests of other members.

Stories, recipes and even a prize crosswords are regular features.

Every member also get a Members Directory which is directory of members interests so if you need to talk to someone with similar interests to yourself or would like information on another aspect of smallholding then you will be able to find someone who can help or advise you in your venture.

Advertising in our newsletter is free to all members so if you are looking for new stock or would like to sell that old tractor this is the place to advertise it.

The Society has an Internet web site (this site) at:-

Members who have their own web pages can have links to their pages on the societys web site to help promote their interests to other smallholders.

There is also a links page which provides a list of useful sites for smallholders.

The pages are constantly being updated as more members join or more useful links are found
